Fukuoka

Fukuoka was just a quick overnight stop for us before our flight to Seoul, but it still gave us a good feel for the city. After checking in, we headed down to the famous Yatai stalls — the open‑air food stands that line the river at night. It’s one of the things Fukuoka is known for, with locals cooking right in front of you and small groups gathered around each little stall.

But honestly, the reality didn’t match the photos. It was packed, the seating was tight, and with the weather not being great, it just wasn’t the comfortable dinner experience we were hoping for. The atmosphere was interesting, but there was nowhere to sit without being shoulder‑to‑shoulder with strangers.

So instead, we walked over to Canal City Hakata, the huge mall just a few minutes away. Warm, dry, lots of food options, and way more comfortable. For an overnight stay before a flight, it ended up being the perfect choice. Fukuoka wasn’t a major sightseeing stop for us this time — just an easy, convenient city to rest in before heading to Seoul.
