I’ve been in full aviation‑geek mode lately — even stopped by the KF Centre for Excellence in Kelowna not long ago — so having dinner at Miku the night before our flight felt like the perfect pre‑takeoff ritual.

We were up in Kelowna for Spring Break visiting the grandkids, and since my son‑in‑law works over at KF, we figured it was the perfect chance to swing by the KF Centre for Excellence again. It’s a respectable little museum — small, but packed with enough history and craftsmanship to really appreciate these old birds. And this time, we actually flew there on the Q400, which made the whole thing feel even more “aviation‑themed” from the start. I’d been in once before, but on this visit I took my time, checked out the Mosquito and Tempest again, and filmed a YouTube video because the place honestly deserves more attention. It kept me in full aviation mode heading into this trip.

The collection at the KF Centre for Excellence is way deeper than you expect. They’ve got standouts like the Mosquito, Tempest, and a CF‑104 Starfighter sitting right beside a beautifully restored DC‑3. The Convair 580 adds a strong Canadian aviation link, and the Staggerwing brings that classic 1930s elegance. You also see workhorses like the Turbo Beaver and Cessna 180 that shaped real bush flying. It’s a mix of warbirds, airliners, and icons that hits you the moment you walk in.
