When the skies turn gray and rain seems endless, a quick getaway to a sunny beach can feel like a breath of fresh air. That’s exactly what happened on a recent 10-day trip to Cabo- Marina Fiesta, booked on short notice with WestJet Premium Economy. This trip wasn’t just about escaping the rain; it was about enjoying the local culture, savoring generous meals, and soaking up the festive holiday spirit. Here’s a detailed look at how this beach escape turned into a memorable experience.

Choosing the Right Flight and Accommodation

Booking a last-minute trip can be stressful, but flying WestJet Premium Economy made the journey comfortable and relaxing. The extra legroom and attentive service helped ease travel fatigue, setting a positive tone for the vacation.

The Marina Fiesta Hotel was the perfect choice for a beach stay. Overlooking the marina, it offered easy access to the sand and sea, plus a peaceful atmosphere away from crowded tourist spots. The hotel’s amenities were solid without being too overwhelming, which suited the plan to explore local dining rather than relying on all-inclusive meals.

Why Skip All-Inclusive and Embrace Local Food

Opting out of the all-inclusive package was a deliberate choice. Instead of eating buffet-style meals at the hotel, the focus was on discovering authentic local flavors. This decision paid off, especially after a recommendation from a friend living in the area.

One standout dining spot was Salvatore GS, known for its massive portions. The advice from a highschool friend who now lives there was simple but crucial: order one meal for two people. This tip saved both money and food waste, as the dishes were more than enough to share. . Another great spot was Isabelle Restaraunt which is located on a street behind the hotel and short 5 min walk. Both of these restaraunts arent on the waterfront in the marina ( we we ate as very convenient) but they were definatley worth the walk.

Fishing Reports and Beach Activities

Fishing enthusiasts will be happy to hear that the local fishing reports were excellent during the stay. Many boats returned with happy customers, bringing in fresh catches that often made their way to nearby restaurants. Even if fishing isn’t your thing, watching the boats come back with their haul adds a lively touch to the marina atmosphere. November is also one of the best months to fish there, particualry for Marlin.

For those just wanting to relax, the beach itself was the main attraction. There is a nice beach witin easy walk with soft sand, gentle waves, and plenty of sunshine creates the ideal setting to unwind and forget about the gloomy weather left behind.

Enjoying the Festive Holiday Decorations

Even though the trip was short notice, the Christmas decorations around Marina Fiesta added a festive charm. Twinkling lights and colorful ornaments decorated the hotel and nearby shops, creating a cheerful mood that complemented the beach vibe.

The decorations weren’t over the top but just enough to remind visitors of the holiday season. This subtle festive touch made evening strolls along the beach feel special and cozy.

Practical Tips for a Short Notice Beach Trip

  • Book flights with comfort in mind. Choosing premium economy can make a big difference on short trips.

  • Stay at a beachfront hotel with easy access to local spots. Marina Fiesta Hotel fits this perfectly.

  • Look for festive decorations during holiday seasons.

Our take on Escaping the Rain with a Beach Trip

A short notice trip to Marina Fiesta proved that you don’t need months of planning to enjoy a refreshing beach escape. Flying WestJet Premium Economy made travel smooth, and staying at the Marina Fiesta Hotel still has the beach within easy reach. Choosing to eat local food instead of all-inclusive meals opened the door to generous portions and authentic flavors, especially at Salvatore GS.

The only downshot was the hawkers selling either fishing trips, drugs, their restaruants or other items ,which can be quite relenting. Sadly this is mostly a Mexico thing. We often would walk through the mall to go from one point of maina to the other to avoid this . Its also a really nice mall and a good way to cool off. Good ice cream in there too.

Fishing reports showed the area’s vibrant marine life, adding to the charm of this coastal getaway. The festive Christmas decorations created a warm holiday atmosphere, making the trip feel even more special.
